What is RoarBoard?

We’re glad you asked! We’re new here. RoarBoard is the first open, public broadcast network for crowdfunded advertising. Our mission is to create positive change and impact in the world by connecting passionate individuals and grassroots movements with the power of advertising. By harnessing the influence of digital communication, we help you launch compelling campaigns, then connect you and your cause with supporters that will fund the effort to share your message across the interwebs. How does it work?

We let people be heard by funding an advertising message together at the same time—a.k.a. “crowdfunding.” Users can create a digital ad campaign and invite others to support that specific campaign (“follow” or “donate”). The way you support a campaign is by following it and promoting it to your friends and contacts or by giving money to fund it. Once a given campaign has received a certain number of supporters specified by the creator of the campaign, RoarBoard then launches the campaign by placing the ad creative and digital media placements. From there, your message meets the masses!


Can anyone create a campaign?

Yes! We are an equally opportunity, apolitical platform intended to give everyone a chance to find their voice and be heard as a vehicle for free speech. That said, it is our job to make sure that it remains a safe and respectful environment for all of our users, and we do not tolerate nor publish content that is unlawful, obscene, defamatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, slanderous, hateful, embarrassing, or offensive to any other person or entity, as we determine in our sole discretion. It’s all outlined in very legal jargon in our Terms of Use. Every campaign goes through an editorial review by a real, live person before it’s able to get posted.

Does it cost anything?

Nope! The beauty of crowdfunding here is that you don’t have to put any money down, unless of course you want to support your own cause (which we highly encourage for morale and good juju). We take a tiny percentage of the raised funds to keep the lights on and get your campaign ready for prime time.


How much money do I need to raise?

There is a $100 minimum to launch a campaign, but beyond that, it’s entirely up to you. To give you a baseline, each $10 raised gets you 1000 impressions, an estimated reach of 25 people. Do the math!


How can I get involved if I don’t have a campaign in mind?

You, dear friend, are what we like to call a Supporter, and there is a lot you can do here, too. Find a campaign (something that gives you goosebumps) and check out their page for details about who’s involved, what needs to be done, and how you can help support the cause. Then, DONATE! Funds go directly to broadcasting efforts that get their message out there (not to the organization’s overhead). See your dollars do good—in real-time.


Why should I give money to a RoarBoard campaign instead of just straight to an organization asking for donations?

This is a common question, particularly for nonprofits looking for donations. There are a couple of very good reasons to go with Roarboard: a) through advertising, we are able to reach an exponentially greater number of people than direct marketing efforts, which can amplify the effect of each dollar spent by bringing in that many more new members or supporters. b) Organizations or people that don’t have a marketing budget rely on social media for their messaging, which is powerful, but limited—we’ve all heard about the small bubble that algorithms create within each person’s social media profile; they frame whatever narrative a person has already bought into. With RoarBoard, we can reach beyond that sphere by advertising on other platforms with a more strategic affect, and eventually, out in the real world (see below for more).


Can I create a campaign for a bus stop shelter or a billboard or the Super Bowl?

We’re currently creating digital ads only but plan on rolling out real-world campaigns— billboards, bus wraps, blimps,and maybe even the Super Bowl—soon!
